The internationally recognized flutist Roberto Fabbriciani leads up the compositions by Luca Lombardi in a musical performance and stages his concert in the spatial installation time and person by Regina Hübner at the artspace Burgkappelle of the Carinthian Museum of Modern Art, MMKK Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria.
Luca Lombardi, one of the most important italian contemporary composers, will be present and speak about his music.
The artist Regina Hübner will introduce the performance.
Roberto Fabbriciani will play the compositions Schattenspiel (1984), Flatus (3 peaces) (1997/1999) and Nel vento, con Ariel (2004), all by Luca Lombardi.
Those pieces were combined under common regie in a special sequence with repeats and pauses for the whole zyklus of the videoinstallation time and person.
Maestro Roberto Fabbriciani, one of the most important interpreters of contemporary music and soloist at the highest level, is a profound expert and interpreter of Lombardi’s music. In his performance for time and person Fabbriciani interacts with the spatial installation and the artistic concept. His live performance adds the “present” as a further element of time to Regina Hübner’s artwork, in which two video projections in the space of the baroque chapel of the Carinthian Museum are representing the personal time and the global flow of time, setting Luca Lombardi’s works in a spatial and temporal music experience.
During the exhibition’s period of time und person we can hear the following recorded compositions for violoncello and flute by Luca Lombardi: Essay 3 (Steiner), 2003, Gruß, 1994, Flatus (3 Stücke), 1997/1999, Schattenspiel, 1984 and Nel vento, con Ariel, 2004, played by Leonard Elschenbroich (violoncello) and Roberto Fabbriciani (flute).
Luca Lombardi is one of the most important composers of our time and is represented and recognized internationally. He has combined these works in a special sequence with repeats and pauses for the videowork time. They stand with the visual form and the conceptual artistic idea, but retain their independence as musical compositions. These and other compositions, interpreted by Roberto Fabbriciani, will be soon published in a new CD.
The flute and the image is the third program point which is organized by the MMKK Carinthian Museum of Modern Art in occasion on the exhibition time and person by Regina Hübner. In May, a dialogue between the art historian and science writer Arnulf Rohsmann and artist Regina Hübner, regina spricht, took place. The discussed works can be seen on video during the exhibition in the Museum’s foyer.

Regina Hübner, time and person
MMKK Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten, Artspace Burgkapelle, from 21st April to 4th September 2016. Regina Hübner shows time and person at MMKK the Carinthian Museum of Modern Art, Artspace Burgkapelle in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria.
The text regina hübner / zeit by Arnulf Rohsmann accompanies the show.
The exhibition is curated by Christine Wetzlinger-Grundnig, director of MMKK Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten.
time and person is a spatial installation with two large-format video projections on suspended screens and the specifically combined music by composer Luca Lombardi.
regina hübner‘s ironic impetus is based on the overt reference to the reversal of a process as represented in the chosen medium of video. the system of reference changes from the philosophy of time to the level of communication. the transformation of a process – in this case dripping- from a physical to an electronic medium breaks open the closed system which is one of the conditions of entropy. Arnulf Rohsmann regina hübner / zeit (¹ 2005, Change + Partner 2001 – 2005, Rome, Italy and ² 2016, MMKK Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten, Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria). (Translation by F. Mered.)
In time and person, oversized drops of milk are continuously falling down until the certain moment of the extended lactic lake. Then, the direction will be reversed and the drops will rise, representing the infinitely ongoing of time. In relation to this image there is the moving and dancing figure of a child. The long, never shortened hair of this little person reflects the sense of the desired freedom and symbolize human existence.
The compositions by Luca Lombardi, which can be heard recorded throughout the duration of the exhibition, has been compiled for time and person in a special combination with repeats and pauses by Lombardi himself. The pieces of music, for cello and flute, are in a close connection with the visual form and the conceptual idea, but they retain their independence as musical compositions.
Zeit (time) and Person (person) were exhibited in different versions in Italy:
EXPO Milano 2015, Pavillon Corriere della Sera, 2015, Milan (video wall); Cinecittà Studios, 2006, Rome (spatial installation); Polish Institute Palazzo Blumenstihl, 2005, Rome (video installation) and Change + Partner Contemporary Art, 2005, Rome (performance and spatial installation with object).
